I had heard somewhere about tying paci's to balloons and sending them to the moon. This sounded like a good idea for the boys since they love the moon and outer space, etc. I wanted to do this sometime, if not the night before, their 3rd birthday. Ronnie said the full Hunter's Moon would be on October 29th and since the boys were born on a full Hunter's Moon that seemed like the perfect night to launch. When I told the boys about the plan a day or two before, Edward mentioned something about a robot being on the moon (pretty sure he got this from a Little Einsteins episode) and doing something with the paci's. So, on that lead, I thought of telling them that the robot was going to give their paci's to new babies who needed them and in return, he would send a present back down with their balloon the next morning. This, of course, got them very excited and they were eager to go outside in their PJ's and launch their paci's on the night of October 29th. Shortly after they released their paci's (it took 2 latex balloons by the way to lift one paci) an airplane appeared in the distance but all you could see was flashing red lights so Ronnie said "Look, there's the robot going to get the paci's!" This added unexpected excitement on top of excitement. The whole event was quite wonderful and a little overwhelming in a magical way.
Gibson was the first to wake up the next morning to a wrapped gift with a white balloon attached (no doubt the same one that launched his paci up in the sky). We woke up to his voice saying "Robot bring present, Robot bring present!". Edward wasn't far behind and both seemed quite happy with the exchange.
Amazingly, the paci's have only been mentioned a few times, mainly by Gibson. With a happy reminder that their paci's are with new babies and that the robot sent them tractors as a gift in exchange they realize they are now big boys.
